The Edo State Oil and Gas Producing Areas Development Commission (EDSOGPADEC) has said it is working to see the return of contractors handling the reconstruction of the 105.6km Benin-Abraka road to the site.
The reconstruction of the project is being financed by the state government, EDSOGPADEC and the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

The Permanent Secretary of EDSOGPADEC, James Ufumwen, said: “We are going to re-commence the reconstruction project. We had a recent meeting where the decision was reached.”
He said the road project would receive attention after initial delays when the NDDC failed to honour its part of the tripartite agreement on the reconstruction of the road.
“With the new drive by EDSOGPADEC, thousands of people who ply the road from Benin to Abraka would heave a sigh of relief.’’
A resident, who spoke on the development, Mrs. Dorothy Asemota, said once the work is completed it would aid the movement of goods and services in the area.
