Edo State Government has said that a new city project, known as CORAL City, is being developed to decongest Benin City.
The State Commissioner for Housing, Urban and Regional Planning and Development, Isoken Omo, who disclosed this, said the city would house about 50,000 people when fully completed.
According to her, there is a lot of pressure in the city centre, leading to indiscriminate developments, which prompted the development of the new city project.
“The development of the CORA City is to reduce the pressure in Benin City. The Edo State New Town Development Authority was up by the government is its first project.

“The project is located along the Ogba-Irhirhi axis in the state. The project is in four phases and work is ongoing on the first phase of the project,” she said.
She explained that the city has a residential, commercial, multi-purpose plots, including religious, leisure, schools, markets, health centres, green areas and every other needs for a city to thrive.
She said the project is coming with full infrastructure such as roads, drainages, walk ways, water, power, and telecommunications facilities.
Omo said the project was opened for subscription about two weeks ago with 467 plots for sale.We have individuals and comprehensive developers and it’s open for subscription,” .
