As part of the effort to combat crime and criminality in Edo State, Governor Godwin Obaseki has disclosed the training of 1,500 newly recruited operatives of the Edo State Security Vigilante Network (ESSVN)
City & Crime reports that the training of the 1,500 brought their number to 6,500 vigilantes trained in the state.

Addressing journalists at the Police Training School in Ogida, ESSVN’s Commander, Col Kole Omonia (Rtd), “We are currently training batch six of ESSVN made up of 1,500 men from across the 18 LGAs. This will be a 10-day training exercise.
“Alongside the training, we have a re-accreditation exercise for already trained vigilantes across the three senatorial districts.”
