Edo To Hold MidWest Youth Summit 

The Edo State Commissioner for Youth and Gender, Bar. Andrew Emwanta, has disclosed that Edo will hold MidWest Youth Summit as part of efforts to prepare the youths ahead of  leadership position.
Emwanta disclosed this over the weekend in Benin when he received the new executives of the Nigeria Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Edo state chapter led by its chairman, Sarah Igunbor, who were on courtesy call on him in the office.
He said the summit slayed for December 26 and 27,with the theme, “say no to electorial violence and vote buying” is aimed at building the capacity of the youths on certain things and equipping them with leadership skills and quality ahead of the future.
“We are organizing a youth summit for the youths in MidWest Region which is the old Bendel State’ comprising Edo and Delta state. Representatives of various youths organisations from  Isoko Ijaw, Urhobo, Anioma  among them would join their counterpart in Edo state for the Summit.”
He said Edo is blazing the trail with the successful conduct of the youth council election, noting that the youths are already showing their leadership qualities which is the idea of allowing them to freely operate.
Emwanta charged the new executive to bring everyone together by extending olive branch to the various interest groups for the betterment of the council, bearing in mind the protest which led to the state intervention in ensuring a free and fair excercise.
While  assuring the council of the ministry’s support in all their endeavour, Emwanta charged them to also embarked on public private partnership, as government would not be able to do everything for them.
Earlier, the Edo  NYCN Chairman, Sarah Igunbor said they were at the ministry to thank the state government for ensuring a free and fair election that ushered in a new executive to pilot the affair of the council.
She sought the support and collaboration of the ministry in carrying out its activities as well as effective running of the council.
