Edo Queens, Amazons, Heartland, Bayelsa Queens battle for BOWFT final spots

Leading Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) clubs, Edo Queens, Heartland Queens, Nasarawa Amazons and Bayelsa Queens will slug it out today in the semi-final matches of the ongoing Betsy Obaseki Women Football Tournament (BOWFT) in Benin City.

To set up their semi-final clash with Nasarawa Amazons, defending Champions of the pre-season tournament Edo Queens thrashed Abia Angels 4-0 in the quarter-final match played at the University of Benin Sports Complex.

Edo Queens prolific winger, Chioma Moses, scored twice, while Emem Essien and Folashade Ijamilusi made it four 4-0 for the WAFU-B Champions to reach the semi-final.

Their semi-final opponents, Nasarawa Amazons, came from behind to beat Remo Ladies 2-1 in the quarter-final game that started on Saturday afternoon but was concluded on Sunday due to the heavy downpour the previous day.

On their part, former champions Bayelsa Queens edged Benin based Fortress Ladies 2-0 to set up the semi-final clash with Heartland Queens who pipped Espoir FC of Benin Republic 1-0 to advance to the semifinals.

While the semi-final clash between hosts Edo Queens and Nasarawa Amazons will be played at the University of Benin Sports Complex at 10am, the contest between Baylesa Queens and Heartland Queens will take place at the same time at the Western Boys High School Mini stadium.

The winner of the tournament will smile home with a whopping N10m cash prize.
