Dr Asue Ighodalo, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the September 21 election in Edo State, says he has absolute confidence in the ability of the state election petition tribunal to deliver justice in his petition.
Ighodalo said this Wednesday when he appeared on ITV Benin Pidgin English Radio Talk Show, ‘Man Around Town’.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Monday Okpebholo, as the winner of the poll.
“Notwithstanding the notion or perception of many people, as a lawyer of 40 years, my faith in the judiciary to remedy every wrong remains unshaken.
“I won all the 15 cases that were brought against me from the primary. And so, I cannot say I don’t have faith in the judiciary. I certainly do. It remains the last hope of the common man.”

He said his supporters were subjected to harassment and intimidation through phantom allegations leading to their unwarranted arrest before and during the election.
He alleged that the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state connived with the police and some compromised Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials to manipulate and distort the results of the election.
Asue also accused INEC, police and the APC of working to frustrate his effort and that of the PDP to file the petition.
Ighodalo dismissed the insinuations that the PDP lost the election because of infighting within the party, saying, “We won the election outright.”
