Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have arrested a 34-year-old man, Ehiozomwangie Omoregbe, over alleged involvement in the murder of two voters at a polling unit on the Benin-Sapele road in Ogheghe community in Ikpoba Okha LGA during the February 25, general elections.
The suspect was alleged to be a member of the gang that allegedly shot Mrs Elizabeth Owie and Mr ldahosa Festus Ekhorutomwen to death.
It was gathered that the suspect and his gang members stormed Ward 9, Unit 34 Polling Unit on the said date and shot sporadically with a view to snatch ballot boxes and that in the process three persons were hit by stray bullets among whom two died on the spot.

Crime & Crime also learnt that other identified suspects who are at large include Ernest Skube; Aimienogho, popularly called Adviser; Victor also called Junior Ajaka; and one Festus.
A police source told our reporter that the suspect claimed that their intention was to snatch ballot boxes but that one of his gang members instead of shooting into the air directed his gun at people.
When contacted, the command’s spokesperson, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, who confirmed the arrest, said, “I want to assure the people that other persons named in the murder of the two persons will be fished out and made to face the full wrath of the law.”
