Ahead of the coming governorship election in Edo State, the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) candidate in the election, Dr. Azemhe Azena, has promised an effective governance towards a peaceful, secure and progressive of any state.

Azena accuses the previous administrations in the state of nonchalant attitude towards the plight of the people, adding that he was ready to do things differently that will benefit the people of the State.

Azena, also referred to as Home Boy by his supporters said it is the duty of any government to be responsible and responsive to the people and he is ready to unleash good governance in serving the people of Edo state, “far different from and devoid of the nonchalance of the past.”

Addressing members of the Azena Forerunners Caucus at the weekend, the governorship candidate said he knows where the shoe pinches his people as he has never being a ‘foreign’ citizen of Edo, but always at home with his people.

According to him, his government will prioritize the state interest by running an accountable and all inclusive administration whereby all citizens will have a say in the day-to-day running of the government.

He said, “We will Keep the government right-sized, block leakages and ensure value for money spent on the delivery of projects and services.

‘Reform, empower and reposition the state civil service and all government agencies and department to deliver efficient services to every citizen will be paramount to our administration.

“I will work cooperatively with the legislature and the judiciary to advance the interest and progress of Edo State and ensure laws back all government actions, driven by public policies and the collective interest of citizens”

The candidate also promised a transparent governance to allow citizens of the state to relate with government directly and mobilize people and resources, to advance their collective security, progress and wellbeing.
