Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has said that the state government would investigate the recent jailbreak at the Edo State Children Remand Home.
On January 8 this year, 43 juveniles escaped from the remand home after gunmen invaded the home shooting into the air and creating escape routes.
Obaseki who spoke Wednesday in Benin while receiving executive members of the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA), Edo State Chapter at the Government House, added that plans were underway to refurbish the home and secure it against future invasion.
Governor Obaseki commended FIDA for supporting his administration, and announced that his administration had forwarded the Bill on Violence against the Vulnerable to the state House of Assembly.
Earlier, the leader of the FIDA delegation, Barr Edeko Maria Omozele said FIDA was basically involved in advocacy programmes as well as handling cases of violence against women and children, rape and child labour.
