Six days after the impeachment of Philip Shaibu as Deputy Governor of Edo State, vigilante and public work volunteers believe to be agent of the state government have demolished the security post of his house.
The make-security post was erected by Shaibu to serves as temporary shelter for his security details before and after close of work.
It was gathered that the policemen manning the security post were reportedly chased away from their duty post opposite the ex-deputy governor’s residence. situated on Aideyan Street, Off Gold Course Road, Benin.
It was learnt that the security team and officials of the ministry of road and bridges watched as the bulldozer leveled the make-shift structure.
Meanwhile, Commissioner for Roads and Bridges, Eta Uzamere, whose ministry is being fingered for the demolition, has denied having anything to do with the demolition.
“I have seen some online reports linking my ministry with the demolition of the former deputy governor’s security and I can tell you it had nothing to do with my ministry,” he said.
But, a lawyer who craved anonymity , said following his impeachment Shaibu is now a private citizen and is no longer entitled to a security outpost.
