Edo gov’ship: I’ll correct wrongs of Obaseki’s govt – Okpebholo

As the September 21 governorship election in Edo State approaches, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has pledged to correct the shortcomings of Governor Godwin Obaseki’s administration if elected as governor.

Speaking during the party’s ward-to-ward campaign in Ovia North East Local Government Area, Okpebholo promised to bring development closer to the rural areas, addressing issues neglected by the current administration.

“If elected as governor on September 21, I will continue from where Adams Oshiomhole left off because development halted in 2016 when Oshiomhole left office,” Okpebholo stated. “With God on our side, I will take over and resume the work that my leader, former Governor Adams Oshiomhole, began.”

Okpebholo assured the people of Okada and Ovia North East that they would not regret voting for him. He committed to ensuring that all schools and health centres in the area have qualified personnel.

In his remarks, the deputy governorship candidate, Denis Idahosa, urged the people of Ovia to appreciate the APC for selecting their son as the deputy governorship candidate. He called for a 100 per cent vote for the APC, promising that the land belonging to the late Captain Hosa Okunbo, which was taken by the Obaseki administration, would be returned.

“Obaseki believes he can use vigilantes to intimidate us, but that won’t happen as we will adhere to the rule of law,” Idahosa said.

Also speaking, former House of Representatives member and daughter of the Esama of Benin, Omosede Igbinedion, urged the people of Okada and the Yoruba community to vote for the APC on September 21.
