Edo: God asked me to pursue my gov’ship ambition – Shaibu

Edo State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, has attributed his ambition to contest in the 2024 governorship election in the state to a divine directive from God.

Shaibu said that he had consulted with God and received a clear message to proceed with his plans.

On Monday, Shaibu officially declared to run for the 2024 governorship election in the state on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Shaibu had been at loggerheads with his boss, Governor Godwin Obaseki, over his ambition, but the tension was later doused.

Speaking on Channels TV on Tuesday, the deputy governor said, “What I mean no one can stop us, we are Edo people, from our ancestral backgrounds we are confident, we fight for our rights.

“So when I said nobody can stop me, yes, no human being because I believe in God and God is the only one that has the power that can say something can not happen.

“Human can not say things can not happen because if God gives us power, he gives us power for certain purposes.

“The same God that gives poverty is the God that I have gone to and have asked me to go ahead, I don’t do things by my strength so since I am sure that God is with me, no man can stop me.”
