The Edo State government has commenced a recertification exercise for house owners in the Ugbor and Amagba communities within the Benin metropolis.
Speaking during the exercise, the Commissioner for Physical Planning, Urban and Regional Development, Isoken Omo, said the exercise is in line with the government’s vision of actualising the 30-year development plan.

She said as parties to the exercise, property owners and developers within the affected areas are expected to provide their building plans upon demand at their houses and sites for clearance and recertification.
“Officials of the state enforcement team under the ministry will, however, mark houses that could not provide evidence of their building plans and serve them contravention/demand notices, either by hand or by pasting them on the buildings,” she said.
The commissioner, therefore, advised property owners and developers who have no building plans to come to the ministry and initiate the process of obtaining the same.
