There was tension on Saturday as hoodlums suspected to be thugs stormed the All Progressives Congress (APC) result collation centre for the governoship primary election in Edo State and disrupted the process.
Daily Trust reports that the APC holds the primary to elect the party’s standard bearer for the September 21 governorship election.
Several journalists, including NTA cameraman, FRCN and Arise reporters, were manhandled and their equipment damaged.
The collation livestreamed on television was ongoing at Lushville Hotel and Suite, GRA, Benin City, when the hoodlums stormed the venue and attacked anyone in sight.

Daily Trust reports that the results from eight local government areas had already been announced when journalists covering the event were alerted to vacate the venue.
Before long, the thugs swooped on the venue after overpowering the police operatives at the gate.
The presence of the State Commissioner of Police, Funsho Adeboye who was there with the officials of the party, did not deter the hoodlums from disrupting the process.
The journalists were asked to move to the Protea hotel where the Chairman of the primary election committee, Governor Uzordima, will address journalist.
