Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2016 governorship election in Edo state, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu has resigned from the party and defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking at his GRA residence in Benin, yesterday he dismissed the report that he joined the party to pitch tent with a faction of the APC in the state.
He said his decision to defect to the APC was borne out of his desire to provide solutions to the challenges bedevilling the people of Edo State.
Ize-Iyamu said his coming to the APC was homecoming for him and his supporters.
He expressed optimism that more members of the PDP across the 18 Local Government Council Areas of the state have agreed to move en masse with him to join the ruling party.
In a resignation letter dated November 21, addressed to the state chairman of the PDP, he said his decision along with several PDP leaders from across the state, was not an easy one considering the cordial relationship they have enjoyed with many members of the party”.
