A former Assistant Inspector General of Police, Ambrose Aisabor, has warned against any “federal or state might” in the conduct of the September 19, 2020 governorship election in Edo State.
Speaking with Daily Trust, Aisabor advised that the people of the state should be allowed to make their choice.

The Edo-born former police chief also warned the police to be above board and charged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to be fair to all parties.
“The vote must not take place in Abuja,” he said, adding that the electoral umpire should conduct a free, fair and credible election where the votes of the people would count.
According to him, only a free and fair exercise could guarantee peace and stability in the state and douse the extant tension.
Aisabor, who reiterated his call on the police not to see the election as an avenue to make money, reminded the security personnel that foreign observers and the international community were watching them.
“The police should know that there is a balance of terror between the leading parties, the APC and the PDP. The police and INEC must be fair to avoid bloodshed,” he said.
