Chairman, Owan East Local Government Area of Edo state, Andrew Osigwe, on Tuesday escaped an assassination attempt, as hoodlums attacked his resident at Ihievbe community.
Speaking on the telephone, Osigwe said though he was not in the house when the incident happened, his wife and three sons who were around during the attack escaped unhurt.

According to him, his family was in the compound celebrating his last son’s birthday with some family when the incident happened.
He said the house and utility vehicle were riddled with bullets.
He accused members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) saying, “I was told of plans to assassinate me before the election, but when and how it will happen, I don’t know.”
The Divisional Police Officer in Afuze, Oladipupo Olawale confirmed the incident and said everything was under control.
Reacting to the allegation, a Chieftain of the APC in the area, Mr Pally Iriase denied the allegation, saying that he (Osigwe) had led various violent attacks against the APC members in the past few months.
