The former Flying Eagles player is among the five new players that Coach Stephen Keshi has invited to camp to replace the five players who were axed last Friday.
Speaking to Daily Trust yesterday, Abdullahi said the invitation came to him as a surprise because he thought it was late for him to be invited for CHAN.
He said now that the opportunity has come for him to fight for a shirt in the team the 2014 CHAN, he is going to give his all.
Abdullahi who won the Nigeria Premier League back to back with Pillars said having represented Nigeria at the Junior World Cup in Turkey, his next ambition is to play for the Super “To be honest with you, my invitation came to me as a pleasant surprise. I wasn’t expecting it but now that the opportunity has come, I have grabbed it with two hands.
“ I have represented Nigeria at the U-20 level and I want to move up to the Super Eagles. This invitation is therefore a platform for me to launch myself into the main Super Eagles.
Abdullahi also thanked Keshi for the invitation saying the coach and his assistants have done so much to encourage local players.
“ I want to thank God and coach Keshi for giving me this opportunity. The coach has shown so much faith in the home based players and this will encourage most of us to keep working hard”, he said.
