Dutsen- Alhaji: FCDA to mobilise contractors back to site after Daily Trust story

The Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) is set to mobilise the contractor handling the Dutse-Bwari road after a Daily Trust report detailed how the abandonment of the project has been causing traffic gridlock.

The Executive Secretary of FCDA, Umar Gambo Jibrin, who led some top management staff of the authority for an on-the-spot assessment of the road, noted that the project was impeded by the incessant rainfall, but assured that it would be completed to relieve residents of the stress.

The executive secretary explained that the COVID-19 pandemic and some other challenges were responsible for the delay of the dualisation project, stressing that the project was not abandoned as speculated by residents.

He emphasised that work would restart on the road within the next three weeks and commitment would be made to ensure its completion.

“When we say completion, we are talking of the totality of what needs to be done here. We have some drainage works to be done and other complimentary works.

“But the one that will ease the traffic movement is something that can be done in the next two months. In the next three weeks, the contractor will be mobilised here. We can never do anything when the rain is here.

“We are only coming to appreciate the level at which the rain has impacted on the road. Now that dry season is approaching, the contractor has to come back and do this work in a very short time. The project is not abandoned. Everything is on course, the contractor is on-ground,” Jibrin further said.
