Dufil Prima Foods Plc. has fulfilled its promise to sponsor the surgery and treatment of Daniel Pepple who was diagnosed with cerebral palsy (CP).
About one in 323 children has been identified with CP, according to estimates from CDC’s Autism and Developmental Disabilities Monitoring (ADDM) Network. Daniel is a younger brother to nine-year-old David Ayomide Pepple from Port-Harcourt who won the social bravery award category for the 11th edition of the Indomie Independence Day (IIDA) Heroes Award (IIDA) in 2018. He won the award for his innovation and artistic talent of recycling waste into creative artworks. His motive for doing that, he said, was to raise money for his sick brother’s medical surgery abroad.
While David Pepple won a million naira cash scholarship award in 2018, the firm also promised to fully fund the treatment of David’s younger brother, Daniel, abroad.
The Chief Operating Officer of the firm, Mr. Girish Sharma, said the company is proud to be a part of the process of restoring the health of young Daniel and also a way of lending a hand to his family in taking care of him.
“Today, it’s a happy story and a day filled with joy for the Pepple’s family as Dufil Prima Foods has fulfilled its promise as Daniel Pepple has travelled to Sir H. N. Reliance Hospital, Mumbai in India for Surgery,” he said.
Daniel’s father, Mr Hamilton Tamuno Pepple, said, “Full sponsorship of such an expensive surgical procedure by Dufil within the current economic climate is an indication that the company is indeed out to make life better for everyone.”
