The Federal Controller of Works (Roads) in Edo State, Engr. Oke Oweh, has disclosed that over 35.19 per cent work has been completed for the dualisation of the Benin-Lokoja road.
Engr. Oweh said this during an on-the-spot assessment of the work so far done on the dualisation.
“The road was initially scheduled to be completed in 2018. Over 35.19 per cent has been completed, but with the work done so far, the completion will be reviewed,” he said.
Oweh explained that some repairs were carried out on the existing roads in November, 2018, as directed by the Minister of Works, Power and Housing, Babatunde Fashiola, to make the road motorable pending the completion of the dualisation .
Some motorists who spoke to journalists on the road commended the Federal Government over the rehabilitation.
One of the motorists, Sunny Omiawele, said the road became impassable for almost two years before the rehabilitation.
