Nigeria women’s national basketball team coach Otis Hughley on Tuesday released the final 13-woman list for the 2021 Afrobasket tournament slated for September 17 to 26 in Yaounde, Cameroon.

The four-time African Champions, D’Tigress who arrived in Yaounde Tuesday, are aiming to defend the title they won back-to-back in 2017 and 2019.

In a statement by Nigeria Basketball Federation, the Nigerian Women Basketball Team list for Afro-basket include; Adaora Elonu, Elizabeth Balogun, Promise Amukamara, Ezinne Kalu, Pallas kunayi- Akpanah  Ifunanya Ibekwe, Amy Okonkwo.

Other players are; Oderah Chidom, Victoria Macaulay, Nicole Enabosi, Sarah Ogoke, Murjanstu Musa and Nkem Uwa Akaraiwe.

Nigeria’s D’Tigress are drawn alongside Angola and Mozambique in group B.

Senegal square up with Egypt and Guinea in Group C, Mali, Ivory Coast and Tunisia will slug it out in Group D while Group A consists of hosts Cameroon, Cape Verde, and Kenya.

D’Tigress will play Mozambique in the opening match on Saturday, September 18 before slugging it out with Angola in the second game of Group B on Monday, September 20 with top place finish as a target.

The top two teams from the Afrobasket will qualify for one of the qualifying tournaments for the 2022 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup.
