A Katsina-based arrested Islamic cleric, Aminu “Abu Ammar” Usman, was last night released after spending 48 hours in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS).
Usman was invited and detained by the DSS after a sermon which berated the present administration as being non-challant on the worsening insecurity across the country.
The cleric confirmed his release in a telephone interview. He said: “Yes, I was released yesterday at about the time of breaking the fast, it was officials of the DSS that brought me home.”
