Some operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have been arrested and detained by the Osun Police Command for allegedly conniving with a suspected kidnapper, Akeem Ajibola Ogunibi, to abduct a Bureau de Change (BDC) operator at Sabo area in Osogbo, the state capital.
The Commissioner of Police (CP) in the state, Mr Wale Olokode, on Friday told Daily Trust Saturday that they received information that gunmen stormed Sabo and whisked the businessman away from his office to the bush along Ilesa Road and demanded ransom.
CP Olokode said the Police Tactical Team was deployed immediately to rescue the businessman, but that the suspects dumped the businessman in the bush after collecting a ransom of N204,000.
The police boss said one of the abductors was apprehended which led to the arrest of other suspects.
The 42-year-old main suspect, Ogunubi, in a chat with our correspondent said he sold the idea to the DSS operatives, saying he did not know how they negotiated the ransom.
He said he got only N15,000 from the proceeds and that the DSS operatives took the rest of the money away.
