The Department of States Services (DSS) on Tuesday said it has arrested the criminals responsible for the kidnap of some Americans and Canadians along the Abuja-Kaduna highway.
A statement by DSS official Tony Opiuyo said the Service arrested five members of the gang which operates along the Lokoja-Okene highway.
He said those arrested are Usman Umaru, Abubakar Umaru, Garba Umar, Abubakar Garba and Umar Bello.
He said, “This gang was responsible for the kidnap of some Canadians and Americans along the Abuja – Kaduna road.”
He recalled that the Service had on 20th January, 2018, intercepted the leader of the gang, Abubakar Muhammed along the Lokoja – Okene highway where he was killed in a gun battle with operatives.
The statement also said the Service between December 2017 and February 2018 arrested over 10 armed robbers, kidnappers and cattle rustlers in different operations across the country.
