DSS: Afenifere, ex-Commissioner condemn Buhari for replacing Seiyefa

The Yoruba socio-cultural group, Afenifere has condemned the hasty manner in which President Muhammadu Buhari appointed another director general for the Directorate of State Security (DSS) wondering why he had to replace acting DG, Matthew Seiyefa at this time.

Chief Sehinde Arogbofa who spoke to Daily Trust on behalf of the group at the weekend in Akure, Ondo state said as a true Nigerian Vice President Yemi Osinbajo in an acting capacity put Seifa in the position without favoring  of any tribe.

According to him, the president had made it public that he was in full support of what Osinbajo did  while he was away, and now he has reversed the decision.

Also, Mr Kayode Akinmade, who is a former Ondo state commissioner for information under ex-governor Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, said with this new appointment it shows that merit is not the basis  of appointment in President Buhari-led government.

Akinmade who has just emerged as the consensus candidate for Idanre/Ifedore constituency  to the House of Representative in the 2019 election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)  in Ondo state said it is also sad that the issue of federal character  which is in the constitution has been shoved aside.

According to him, it is not healthy for our democracy for some people to be more favoured over others saying it is a danger to the future of the country.

It will be recalled that Afenifere has severally criticized the appointments of the current government saying it is lopsided.

President Buhari had last week approved the appointment of   Yusuf Magaji Bichi (fwc), as new Director-General of the Department of State Service (DSS).
