The police in Sokoto have arrested one Sanusi Abubakar of Dange Shuni Local Government Area, Sokoto, over rape of a 17-year-old girl in the state.
The spokesman of the police in the state, ASP Muhammad Abubakar Sadiq, who disclosed this yesterday, said the incident occurred on Sunday.
He said one Mohammed Danmakka went to Dange Shuni Police Station and complained that on 29/03/2020 at about 00:30hrs, the said suspect was contracted to transport his daughter to her sister’s residence and that he (suspect) diverted the girl into a nearby bush.
“He threatened her life using a knife and forcefully had unlawful carnal knowledge of her,” he added.
According to the police spokesman, the victim was rushed to the Specialist Hospital, Sokoto.
He said the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Sani Kaoje, directed a full-fledged investigation into the incident, and that the suspect would be charged to court in due course.
