A commercial driver is being praised for his courage after he ran down two gunmen who tried to stop his vehicle in Taraba.
The unnamed man was driving his passengers along Takun-Wukari road when two armed jumped into the middle of the road with guns pointed ordering him to stop.
Audu Bello, a passenger on the bus said the driver was slowing down to stop when he realised the armed men could be kidnappers.
He said the driver continued to slow down as he neared the men, then sped up and ran through the two armed men in the middle of the road.
The driver said the incident happened between Chanchangi and Abakwa villages.
The area has been the site of recent kidnappings in Taraba.
The driver, who plies the road, said gunmen have forced many vehicles to stop and abducted their passengers at that particular points.
He said un arrival in Wukari he informed security of what happened and the security went after them but could not find the two gunmen at that spot.
Instead they found blood stains at the spot trailing into the bush before disappearing metres after.
Spoke person of Taraba state police command when contacted DSP David Misal said the command is yet to receive report of the incident.
