A commercial vehicle driver knocked down two gunmen along Takum-Wukari road in Taraba State on Saturday.
Daily Trust gathered that the commercial vehicle driver was conveying passengers when two gunmen suddenly appeared from the bush and pointed guns at the vehicle ordering him to stop.
Audu Bello, who was inside the vehicle when the incident occurred told our reporter that the driver was about to stop when he realised that the gunmen were kidnappers.
The witness further stated that the driver slowed down the vehicle as if he was going to stop, but he suddenly accelerated speed and knocked to the ground, the two gunmen who were standing in the middle of the road.
He told our reporter that the incident happened between Chanchangi and Abakwa villages.
He said gunmen have on several occasions forced motorists to stop and abducted the passengers for ransom at that particular location.
He said on arrival in Wukari town, he informed security operatives of what transpired, but that the security could not trace the two gunmen when they stormed the area.
The driver further told our reporter that the security team, however, found drops of blood at the spot of the incident, which led to the bush.
Spokesperson of Taraba State Police Command, DSP David Misal, when contacted said the command was yet to receive any report of the incident.
