A commercial bus driver, whose identity is yet to be ascertained, died while 12 passengers sustained injuries in an auto crash which occurred in the early hours of Wednesday at Sabon-Gari village, on the Abuja-Lokoja road.
A source said the accident happened around 3 am when an 18-seater commuter bus, with registration number NNG 516 XA, coming from Lokoja rammed into a moving Daf truck without registration number.

He said the driver of the bus was strapped to his seat, adding that officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) evacuated the corpse and the 12 injured passengers to hospital.
When contacted, Yangoji unit commander of the FRSC, ACC Aminu Shuaibu, confirmed the accident which he attributed to overspeeding and poor weather.
He said the corpse of the driver was deposited at Kwali General Hospital morgue, while the 12 injured passengers were receiving treatment in the same hospital.
He also disclosed that one person sustained injury in another accident which occurred on Sunday evening at Sheda village along the same road.
The commander said the accident happened around 4 pm after an Audi jeep with registration number PK 199RBC lost control and crashed into a ditch.
He said the injured person was rescued and taken to Kwali General Hospital for treatment.
