Driver, 1 other killed as truck, car collide in Jos

Two persons were on Tuesday killed when a truck and a car had a head-on collision near a military checkpoint at Mista-Ali on the Jos-Zaria road in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.

A witness said the accident, which occurred around 3pm, claimed the lives of the truck driver and one person inside the other vehicle.

The witness, who identified himself as Dauda Barje Wundu, said the accident was caused by personnel of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) who were chasing the truck driver, adding that the FRSC personnel fled the area when the accident occurred.

Wundu further noted that other victims of the accident sustained injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital.

The owner of the trailer, Alhaji Umar Ibrahim, has demanded justice from relevant authorities for families of the deceased, as well as those that sustained injuries.

When contacted on phone, Mr Longsan, the FRSC spokesman in Jos, he said he was not in the office and therefore could not immediately comment on the incident.
