A few hours after Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano State stormed the house of his rival, Senator Ibrahim Shekarau, to forestall his decamping to the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), the leader of the party, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, sent a delegation to the senator.
Kwankwaso, who had hoped to welcome Shekarau into NNPP on Saturday, heard of Ganduje’s move and called the Mundubawa Kano house of Shekarau, informing them he was coming.
While the agenda is not yet known, sources said it might be to ascertain if Shekarau was still aboard the plan decamping to NNPP.
Sources said while Kwankwaso was still being expected, his advance party, which include new members of NNPP, Alhassan Rurum and Kawu Sumaila, were at a meeting with Shekarau at the time of filing this report.
Daily Trust had exclusively reported that after Ganduje visited Shekarau, the presidency decided to step into the crisis and dispatched a jet to Kano to convey the two gladiators in Kano APC for a final reconciliation meeting in Abuja.
Sources said both Ganduje and Shekarau are expected to jet out of Kano later in the night for the Abuja meeting.
