The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) has called on independent marketers in Sokoto and Kebbi states to follow the right channels in getting their products so that they can sell to the public at the approved pump price.
It also called on the public to stop patronizing filling stations selling above the controlled price.
The warning followed the sealing of another five filling stations in the two states over alleged over pricing.Three of the sealed filling stations are in Sokoto and two in Kebbi state.
Sokoto Zonal Operations Controller, Alhaji Mohammed Makera said they would not hesistate to penalize any marketer diverting, hoarding or over pricing the commodity.
"Their reason for selling at a price that is above the N145 approved by the government was that they are getting their products at the black market. But these are diverted products meant for other states, "he stated
He however said that the two states had recently received 64 trucks of petrol.
According to Makera, 45 of the 64 trucks were for Kebbi state and environs while the remaining ones were for Sokoto state and environs.
He said that the already penalized filing stations would remain sealed until they pay fines.
