DPR seals 3 filling stations in Sokoto

The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) on Tuesday sealed up three filling stations selling above the approved government price of N165.

The affected filling stations were Al’adyas, Bello Gostu and Aba Nur filling stations, all located in Kwannawa area.

Speaking to Caliphate Trust, the Operational Comptroller in charge of Sokoto and Kebbi states, Musa Zarumi Tambuwal said 52 stations were visited by his operatives as part of their routine exercise to enforce regulations.

“During our visit, we found out that, 12 of them were selling within the approved price of between N162 and N165 but 40 were selling above that and we forced them to reverse it.

“Subsequently, three of them could not reverse it which resulted to their closure and we may fine them,” he said.

Tambuwal noted that the marketers have no justification whatsoever to increase price as government has not done that.

The comptroller said there was no case of hoarding and diversion so far recorded, adding that stations found under dispensing the commodity were also forced to rectify that.

He called on the general public to desist from panic buying because the product was available in the state.

“Just yesterday (Monday), we received 52 trucks of PMS for Sokoto and 76 trucks for Kebbi from the Gusau NNPC depot,” he said.
