For the first time in history, the Kano state Police Command has organised Qur’anic recitation Competition to its operatives, with the Takai Divisional Police Officer in the state, SP Mahi Ahmad, emerging the overall winner.
The competition was organised across on the 60 Hizb (parts) of the Qur’an, 40, 20, 10, five as well as two Hizbs.
According to Kano Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the competition, which held at the command headquarters in Bompai, is aimed at reforming the police-community relations.
He said all participants had received different gifts, ranging from Plasma television sets, refrigerator, fans, bicycles, yards, copies of Qur’an and some small token.
No fewer than 39 police officers participated in the competition which started on Wednesday and ended on Thursday.
Other winners in the competition include Salihu Umar from Nigerian Police Academy (POLAC), Wudil, who emerged first in 40 Hizbs category, Cadet Alhassan Musa also from POLAC, first in 20 Hisbz and Cadet Hafiz A. Gama, also from POLAC, 10 Hizbs.
Others are Sergeant Sani Mustapha from Zone one headquarters, Kano, five Hizbs and Inspector Abubakar Mohammed also from Zone One in two Hizbs category.
The command has promised to continue organising the competition annually.
