As the nation celebrates its 58 Independence anniversary, the Democratic People’s Congress (DPC) has urged Nigerians to use the opportunity to rededicate themselves to the service of God and the fatherland.
The national chairman of the congress, Rev. Olusegun Peters, said yesterday in Abuja that the dream of Nigeria’s founding fathers of a great, united, prosperous and just democratic nation had been a mirage in the past 58 years.
“This potential powerful country has been on life-support, ravaged and devastated by poor leadership, corruption, tribalism, militancy, insurgency, kidnapping, armed robbery and massive looting of the treasury by public officers.
“The state of the nation is bad and needs the collective efforts of patriotic Nigerians to rescue it from the cabal that has held the populace hostage in the past 58 years of independence, particularly the incumbent All Progressives Congress-led Federal Government,” Peters said.
