A downpour on Tuesday night washed away the bridge on Jeeje River linking Shao community with the Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, Moro LGA.
The Jagunmolu of Shao, Chief Wole Oke, has, therefore, appealed to the state government to reconstruct the bridge urgently.
He said, “The lecturers, other categories of staff and the students of the university have been brought under suffering.
“This, therefore, calls for immediate attention by the state government to do the needful to reconstruct the bridge as a matter of urgent priority.

“The matter should not be treated with lethargy by the relevant authorities, particularly the state Ministry of Works.”
Reacting to the development, the Registrar of the university, Dr Kikelomo W. Sallee, in a statement, said, “The Kwara State Ministry of Works and Transport inspected this failed portion of the road immediately after the management of the university reported the development.
“Efforts are on to provide a temporary access road to commuters on the busy route pending the construction of a new bridge.”
