Don’t scrap NYSC because of insecurity — NYSC

Director-General, National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier-General Shuaibu Ibrahim, says insecurity should not be a reason to call for scrap of the scheme.

He said this Thursday in Abuja during a journalists’ colloquium organised by the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria chapter.

Ibrahim, represented by the NYSC spokesperson, Mrs Adenike Adeyemi, said the scheme had always worked with all security agencies to ensure that corps members’ safety wherever they were.

He noted that without the permission of the security agencies, no corps member was posted to any troubled state. According to him, Nigerians should always see the benefits the scheme brings to their host communities rather than call for its end.
