The Kano State Road and Traffic Agency (KAROTA) has warned tricycle operators in the state to desist from the use of gas as an alternative to petrol in powering their tricycles.
The Managing Director (MD) of KAROTA, Faisal Mahmud Kabir, disclosed this in a statement issued by the spokesman of the agency, Nabilusi Abubakar, on Wednesday.
Kabir explained that the use of gas as alternative to petrol in tricycles was dangerous, as the engines could explode and result in loss of lives.
The statement reads in part: “The gas used for vehicles is different from other gases. The agency will arrest tricycle operators caught using gas instead of petrol.”

Kabir also warned the agency’s officials to stop using sticks to stop erring motorists on the roads.
He said, “Our officials can work on the road without using long sticks on any erring motorist. Rather, look for other means to mete out punishment.
“Using long sticks on erring motorists on the road is against the agency’s act. Anyone caught working against the act will face the wrath of the law.”
