Don’t politicise palliatives, Lagos monarch cautions council chairmen

The Alara of Ilara in Epe Division, Lagos State, Oba Olufolarin Ogunsanwo, has urged local government chairmen against politics or sentiments in distributing palliatives to households.

Oba Ogunsanwo’s advice on Tuesday followed the National Assembly’s approval of N819.5bn for the 2023 supplementary budget, with N500bn set aside for palliatives following the removal of fuel subsidy by the federal government.

The traditional ruler noted that the billions of naira rolled out by the government to other tiers of government to support the palliatives was sufficient to cushion the hardship faced by the people at the grassroots.
