Don’t plunge Zamfara into crisis over 2027 gov’ship, APC chieftains warn politicians

Some chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara State on Tuesday asked key political actors not to plunge the state into crisis or heighten political tension because of the 2027 governorship election.

Zamfara has been in the news in recent times following the purported suspension of some political office holders including the state chairman of the APC, Tukur Danfulani, and the member representing Kaura Namoda/Birnin Magaji Federal Constituency of the state, Hon. Aminu Sani Jaji among other developments.

A few days ago, Jaji’s Constituents of Kaura Namoda and Birnin Magaji had reportedly commenced mobilisation for his recall, but the top echelon of the APC in the North West voided his suspension.

Hon. Gabriel Ibrahim Itodo who led other Christian politicians to a press conference on Tuesday in Abuja, attributed the developments in the state to scheming ahead of the 2027 elections and warned bigwigs to play according to the rules of the game.

He said: “Our findings revealed that these are the handiwork of enemies from both within and outside the party, the APC, and it is all about Hon. Jaji’s impressive and intimidating profile. It is about the 2027 governorship election in the state.

“We are using this medium to appeal to politicians in Zamfara State to play politics with decency and decorum.

“Our organisation, the Coalition of Christian Politicians in Nigeria, will not tolerate blackmail of any kind from any quarter against a good man like Hon. (Dr.) Aminu Sani Jaji.”
