Islamic clerics have been urged not to be distracted by the donations made from political leaders.
A university Don, Professor Azeez Taofiq, made the call during a one-day training for religious leaders in Sokoto.
The training was organised by Alhabibiyya Foundation with the support of MacArthur foundation.
According to Professor Taofeeq, corruption breeds all evils, adding that the insecurity experienced in the country was as a result of corruption.
“We are here to tell our Imams to use their tongues and speak against corruption. They should not be distracted by what they are getting from politicians. Let them collect it and tell them the truth.
“Because the Holy Prophet has urged us to correct wrong things with our hands, if we can’t with our tongues, if we can we should hate it in our heart but that is the weak Iman,” he said
Also speaking, the national Amir of Alhabibiyya, Ustaz Adeyemi Fu’ad, explained that, the training was organised to sensitize participants on the need to be self reliance and outspoken against corruption.
