Don’t let anarchists take over your region, ACF urges South East leaders

The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has urged leaders in the South East to take extra measures to check the activities of members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) which the police said were responsible for the attack on the Owerri Correctional Centre and the police headquarters in Imo State.

The ACF through its National Publicity Secretary, Emmanuel Yawe, advised leaders of the South East to take the security situation in the region seriously.

“We in the North are suffering from it; we are the ones wearing the shoes and we know where it pinches. The South East will be the losers just as we are the losers if they allow anarchy to take over,” Yawe said.

The ACF stated that considering that the attacked Imo State Police Headquarters was not far from the Government House was an indictment on Nigeria’s poor intelligence gathering techniques.

“Government should not take it likely because if people can launch such an attack very close to the seat of power, it is as good as staging a coup because I understand the Government House is nearby.

“How can people be moving those kinds of weaponry and the security agencies didn’t know about it until they attack?. In fact, it should be even more suspicious that they were moving very late at night in such large numbers. The security agencies should have known that something was going to happen,” he said.
