The Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Isiaka Oladayo Amao, has warned officers and men of the Nigerian Airforce against engaging in any political activity or act that could mar the electoral process in 2023.

Amao gave the warning during the ‘Chief of Air Staff Christmas Luncheon’ with personnel of the air component of Operation Hadarin Daji and 213 forward operating base in Katsina on Sunday.

He was represented by the Air Officer Commanding, Special Operations Command, Bauchi, and Air Vice Marshal A. Abdulkadir.

“I need not remind you that as military personnel, you are not expected to make any political statements or avail yourself or your men as campaign tools to politicians. Hence, you must be apolitical and unreservedly patriotic to ensure a credible and peaceful process.

“Having received all the support necessary for us to effectively carry out our mandate, you are therefore required to continue in the path of remaining loyal to upholding the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the tenets of democracy, especially as the general elections are fast approaching.

“Please be warned that you are not to engage in any political activity or act capable of marring the electoral process. This is not acceptable and will certainly compromise democracy,” he said.

He, therefore, urged them not to rest on their oars until the insurgency and other forms of criminality are totally eradicated from the country.

“The nation massively appreciates your efforts, sacrifices and dedication. I am also re-assuring you of my continuous support by ensuring timely and adequate provision of logistics, training, welfare packages for the effective execution of the operations in the Northwest,” he added.
