Don’t appoint Jukun as district head of Tella, Gov Ishaku told

A Taraba State community leader has advised Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku against appointing his kinsmen without historic linkage to rulership.

Senator Ibrahim Goje of Gassol 1 Constituency said the people will resist the appointment of people from the constituency as third-class chiefs or district heads in Tella town.

Goje, who is also a member of the Gassol Chiefdom Consultative Forum, said the consultative forum approached the Taraba State High Court in Jalingo to challenge Governor Ishaku’s change of the name of Dan-Anacha to Kwararafa, and appointing someone who has no historical linkage with the area.

“Governor Ishaku failed to realize the unfortunate happenings in Dan-Anacha and this time around they want to create another confusion in Tella, the commercial heart of Gassol Local Government Area by appointing someone who has no traditional linkage to the rulership of Gassol chiefdom as a district head on the grounds that he is from the same tribe with the governor,” Goje said.

“The insecurity in Taraba State and by extension Gassol LGA is a serious issue that the government should address to its logical end, not inviting trouble for her citizenry,” he added.
