The embattled presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) who was allegedly suspended from the party early this week has explained why the party took the hard decision against him and why a section of the exco decided to support the candidate of the APC, President Muhammadu Buhari.
Impeccable sources very close to the party and Duke disclosed that the party allegedly demanded N2 billion from the governor.
The money, the sources said, was required by party officials to maintain structures ahead of the election.
The sources said Duke told them that he did not have such money, saying he was solely funding his campaign.
Attempts to reach the national chairman of the party or any official for their reaction were not successful. The SDP is embroiled in internal crisis with factions trading suspensions, making it difficult to get a clear picture of what is happening.
