Doma Utd defeat Heartland as Rangers hold Enyimba

Doma United yesterday inflicted yet another loss on Heartland with a 1-0 win in the match day 15 of the 2023/24 Nigeria Premier Football League fixtures at the Pantami Stadium.

Nelson Abiam’s strike in the 42nd minute was enough for Doma United to edge the hapless Heartland and go top of the table for at least 24 hours.

The ‘Savanah Tigers’ have 28 points having won eight out of their first 15 games of the season.

Doma have played one game ahead of Remo Stars and Lobi Stars who both have 26 points and could catch up if they win their 15th game of the campaign.

Heartland FC however will look forward to returning to winning ways when they host second-placed Remo Star in what will seem to be a strong test for them.

Heartland remain in 18th position after getting only 13 points from 15 games from a possible 45 points.

Doma United remain the only side yet to concede a goal at home this season. The Gombe-based club have gone 720 minutes without conceding a goal at home after keeping clean sheets in eight home games.

In the other game at the Enyimba International Stadium, Enyimba solidified its fourth place on the NPFL table with a 1-1 tie with their longtime rivals and neighbours, Rangers International FC of Enugu.

In the 12th minute of the first half of the encounter, Mbaoma Chijioke scored the first goal for the hosts and in the dying minutes of the game, Kazeem Ogunleye pulled Rangers level to pick a point against their hosts after seven years.
