Six minutes later, Samuel Enefiok slotted into the far post to make it 2-0 as the ‘Savannah Tigers’ took charge of the game.

Full of confidence with the two quick goals, their visitors were stunned as they struggled to get into the game.

However, efforts to increase the goal tally failed but the home side will be satisfied to get all maximum points.

In the second game of the day, Bendel Insurance defeated Enugu Rangers 2-0 at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium, Benin City.

Insurance went into the lead in Benin City through Junior Osaghae’s goal in the 15th minute and extended the lead in the 61st minute.

A defensive mix-up by Rangers allowed Ismael Sarki to score into an empty net as the game ended 2-0. However, league action continues across eight centers today.

Meanwhile, Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule has tasked the new leadership of Football Association (FA), to work in synergy with the state ministry of youths and sports development to hunt for young, talented players across the 13 local government areas of the state that would be recruited into Nasarawa United Football Club of Lafia.

The governor made the statement while playing host to the new official of the Nasarawa State Football Association (NSFA), led by its Chairman, Mr. Salisu Galadima in Government House, Lafia, recently.

Sule reiterated his administration’s commitment to complete the ongoing renovation of Lafia City Stadium, among other inputs that would guarantee the return of Nasarawa United to top-flight football.

“I want to use this medium to call on the newly elected of Nasarawa State Football Association to work in synergy with the state ministry of youths and sports development to fish out young talented players that are hiding at the grass root to be recruited into Nasarawa United Football Club of Lafia for better performance.
