The embattled Kano State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Haruna Umar Doguwa, has expressed his hope that the recent intervention by the party’s national headquarters in the lingering leadership crisis in Kano will lead to amicable resolution.
Speaking yesterday, Doguwa welcomed the intervention, saying it was the first of its kind since the crisis broke out.
He said that the committee had invited him and the party’s organising secretary, Alhaji Sanusi Surajo Kwankwaso, adding: “We have briefed the committee about the crisis and from the look of things, everything would be over soon. I am confident that the committee will do justice to all parties involved.”
Doguwa said that the issue was simple to handle.
“They (a faction of the party in Kano) said they have removed us from our respective offices and we said our removal was unconstitutional, period,” he said.
“Our argument is that the party’s constitution was not duly followed.”
He said that due process should be followed in removing them from office.
