Two dogs on Wednesday evening killed a five-year-old girl at Hallelujah Estate in Osogbo, Osun State.
Also, the cross-breed dogs attacked and injured the mother of the child on her buttocks before she was rescued.
It was gathered that the woman and the little girl were walking past a building in the area when the two dogs emerged and attacked the mother and her child.
A resident of the area said the dogs killed the child while the helpless mother struggled in vain to rescue her.

He said the dogs later descended on the mother but the prompt intervention of some neighbours rescued her from the blood-thirsty animals after biting her severally on the buttock.
Another resident said the dogs were in the building alone for a very long time without the occupants being around.
“The dogs appeared like they wanted to kill the mother after killing her daughter, but for some passers-by who saw the scene and quickly ran to call for help. It is unfortunate that help didn’t arrive on time for the little girl,” he said.
The Police Public Relations Officer for Osun command, Yemisi Opalola, said the owner of the house and the dogs would be arrested and prosecuted.
